Flat rectangle tunic
A rectangular piece of fabric with a T-shaped cut for the head hangs from the shoulders. Apart from the T-shaped opening, the only cuts are two straight, horizontal cuts directed towards the fundamental green armpit points. The garment is two- dimensional in that it is completely at with no shaping or depth in the construction. This experiment visualises and connects kinetic garment constructions to ancient rectangular garment construction, showing how gravity a ects the fabric and how balance is achieved in the garment when the fabric at the front of the body is conected to the fabric at the back.
As a part of our belief in transparency Atacac would like to share the pattern and 3D-model for this garment. For this we ask, but do not demand, a small contribution of €10 to support us with our work of producing new sharewear patterns.
Print the pattern out on a large scale plotter or use the tile function if printing on a normal printer and print it in small pieces and then tape the pattern together.
When downloading you will get 4 different files. A png illustrating the arm, a pdf ready for print, a dfx that can be imported into any CAD/CAM software and a ZPrj with the pattern assembled in 3D. The ZPrj file can be viewed and altered in CLO.
The Atacac sharewear patterns are licensed under the Attribution-ShareAlike CC BY-SA Creative Commons licences. This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon this work even for commercial purposes, as long as they credit Atacac and license their new creations under the identical terms. I.e. you are allowed to make changes and sell garments based on these pattern with the condition that you also share your developed pattern further for free.
This license is often compared to “copyleft” free and open source software licenses. All new works based on yours will carry the same license, so any derivatives will also allow commercial use.
